Yum yum yum, the kitchen is smelling absolutely delicious. Start busting out all your cooking gear and begin prepping for a tasty homemade recipe. If you’re one of those people who absolutely adores to make food from scratch or you just like the healthier side of things then this is your kind of recipe. Stop looking for a good home-cooked recipe for cheese sticks and start reading this one because it will leave your taste buds watering. If you really want to make a quick and easy snack for your children or spouse — or just do something for you then follow the following instructions for the perfect homemade cheese sticks. These are the following ingredients you’re going to need for this recipe: 8 oz. mozzarella cheese (block of it), 1/4 cup flour, two large eggs, two tablespoons (Tbsp) of water, two cups of Italian style bread crumbs, and finally vegetable oil. Now you can get started! Your going to start by taking your block of 8 oz. mozzarella cheese and cut it half. After you’ve cut the block in half, stand the half pieces on their edges and cut it right down the middle. Followed by cutting them into a total of twenty pieces or however many pieces you intend on making. Now you’ll have a pie plate that has your 1/4 cup of flour, you’re going to start coating the cheese sticks in the flour (make sure that you check the ends as well) and place them into your colander. Once you have the cheese sticks placed in the colander, shake off the extra flour that may be lingering on the coated cheese sticks. Now in another pie plate that you’ll have set off at the side, you’re going to start cracking your two eggs. After this has been completed, you’re going to add the two tablespoons of water to the eggs. You’ll then begin to proceed with whisking the eggs and water together with just a simple dining fork (mix it up until everything is full combined together). Once that is done, you’ll start adding the two cups of Italian style bread crumbs into your third pie plate. Going back over to the cheese sticks, you’re going to take the cheese sticks and place them into the pie pan with the egg and water mixture. You’re going to take the cheese sticks and roll them around in the mixture making sure they’re completely covered, including their edges. When the cheese sticks have finally been completely coated with the egg mixture, you want to allow the extra mixture to drip off and back into the pie pan. After the egg mixture has finally dripped off all the cheese sticks you can start drizzling and coating them with the bread crumbs. You want to check to make sure that they’re fully covered before you proceed any further. It can help if you pat the bread crumbs onto the cheese sticks themselves. Then shake off all the extra bread crumbs trying to hold onto the cheese sticks. Now that you’ve gotten the bread crumbs completely taken care of, you can then start the re-breading process again. Re-dip the cheese sticks in the egg mixture making sure that all the cheese sticks are fully covered. You’ll then take the cheese sticks back over to the Italian bread crumbs and re-coat all of the cheese sticks. This will allow the cheese sticks to form a nice, thick coating and prevent the cheese from oozing all of the place when they’re frying. After you have repeated this process, place the cheese sticks on a plate and place them into your freezer. Leave the cheese sticks in there for two hours before you start frying them. Now you prepare your cast-iron skillet and put just an inch of vegetable oil in it. You’re also going to want to have this over a medium heat and you’ll do this by checking with a thermometer. You’ll then begin to proceed by frying the cheese sticks in small batches so you don’t cause a struggle for removing any of them or allowing ones to fry together. As the cheese sticks are frying, constantly move them around with a pair of tongs to prevent them from sticking to the bottom of your pan. Once they have become a nice golden brown, remove the cheese sticks from the pan and put them on a paper towel-lined plate. You can then being serving these up on a plate with a side of tomato sauce or salsa. Give it a try, you’ll like them!
